Howdy Y'all,
It's Roscoe the Chicken Man aka Russell. David the shrimp boat hand told us about an all-u-can eat catfish/shrimp/chicken place. This is no buffet. This is a cooked fresh when ordered place. Old Roscoe has had a few fried meals before, so call me a skeptic. Well Aunt Jenny's Catfish Restaurant proved me wrong.
You just get sitted and they start bringing out the coleslaw and biscuits. This is before orderin' a thang. The biscuits were good, but they had awesome cane syrup and butter that made them better. The coleslaw was slap ya mamma good! Just ask Ellie who had a couple of helpings.
Not knowing if I could eat more than one plate the waitress said "if you order the first and want more, you can always upgrade to the all you want". You could get your plate with either sweet taters or fries. Me and the misses both order shrimp with sweet taters. Ellie, per usual, order chicken and fries.
I got my first plate with 18 tails and two taters. Four minutes gone! Our waitress comes around offering tea and a shrimp refills. I said "you bet ma'am". This time 16 tails and about 7 minutes to eat'em. There must have been something in the cocktail sauce, cause I ordered one more round. We asked about the cocktail sauce and it is a homemade mixture of Tabasco, horseradish, and ketchup. They got that right too. Last group was 16 tails to make it an even 50. No record, but a good number. Lisa "the rookie" stoped at her 16 tail first plate. She enjoyed the fried shrimp, but is more of a boiled or grilled shrimp lover. Ellie said while awesome the chicken is no Babe's Chicken Dinner House. (See Winner, Winner Chicken Dinner for a review of that place.) It was a great last supper in paradise. We'll see you on the flippidy flop. Enjoy the moodie faces.
