Originally, while in Houston we were going to go to a place (that Russell found) called Captain Tom's for dinner......but......after talking to some locals we found out that it wasn't in a very good neighbor to be at during the evening hours. Plus, it was gonna take an hour or so to get there with this Houston traffic (so glad that Wichita doesn't have traffic like this 😄).
So we called an "audible" and went to a local place called Pappas Seafood House!!!
We started the meal with some yummy bread and a half dozen of Gulf Shore Oysters......and I can truely say that these were the BEST oysters I've ever had (hoping to get even better ones in Louisiana).
We even convinced Ellie to try one......she didn't like it.....but I'm glad she at least tried one.
For the main course...Russell got the Pappa's Deluxe Seafood Platter!!! It had pretty much everything you could imagine that could be fried. It had catfish, crawfish, gulf shrimp, soft shell crab, blue crab cakes, stuffed crab and my personal favorite scallops. It was all cooked to perfection and AMAZING!!!
I had a Grilled Seafood & Vegetable Scewer over rice and Jambalaya!! Boy O Boy....SO good. The Jambalaya was my favorite.....it had just enough heat and the Cajun spices were perfectly balanced.
Ellie (who's not a fan of seafood.....crazy kid) had the mini corndogs, fries and ate Russell's coleslaw. Her favorite were the corndogs...she said "they were cooked perfectly and not too crispy".....and she is an expert on corndogs!!
It was a little pricier than our original choice but the quality and selection was well worth it.
Until next time!! XO-Russell, Lisa & Ellie
I'm sad to miss the 'boat', but glad to know it is not a good area. Did Pappas have Micheladas?
